Welcome to the official DJordanMedia Editing Contest Rules & Guidelines page. This page outlines all contest rules, judging criteria, and disqualification policies to ensure a fair and positive experience for all participants. Please read thoroughly to ensure your entry is eligible and follows all guidelines.

General Contest Rules

  1. Follow and Subscribe

    • Participants must follow @djordanmedia on Instagram and subscribe to DJordanMedia on YouTube before submitting their entry.

  2. Create Your Video

    • Your video must use one or more of the provided clip packs. External footage is not allowed (you may use all clip packs if desired).
    • Incorporate the required contest logo/animation in your video creatively, either as an intro, overlay, or integrated element.
    • No Time limit on entry, we recommend at least a 15 Second Video

  3. Post and Submit

    • Upload your entry to Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok.
    • Tag @djordanmedia and include the hashtag #DJordanContest in your post.
    • Submit your entry through the contest page form on djordanmedia.com, including the link to your social media post.

  4. Instagram Account Requirements

    • Your account must be at least 3 months old with a history of active posting (as long as its a true genuine account)
    • Accounts must show genuine engagement (followers, likes, and comments).
    • Only public accounts are eligible for review; private accounts cannot participate.

  5. Entry Limits

    • Each participant can submit up to 2 entries.

  6. Original Work Only

    • All submissions must be original and created specifically for this contest.
    • Plagiarism, use of copyrighted material without permission, or reliance on AI-generated content will result in disqualification.

Judging Criteria

Submissions will be evaluated by up to 10 judges, who will carefully review each entry based on the following core criteria:

  1. Originality/Creativity (20 Points)

    • Does your video demonstrate a unique and creative approach?
    • Are the provided clip packs and contest logo/animation used in an innovative and engaging way?
    • Does your entry showcase your personal style or fresh ideas that make it stand out?

  2. Flow (20 Points)

    • Is the video seamless and well-paced?
    • Are transitions between clips smooth and logical?
    • Does the overall structure maintain the viewer’s attention and engagement?

  3. Effects (20 Points)

    • Are visual effects executed professionally and appropriately for the theme?
    • Do the effects enhance the overall quality rather than distract from it?
    • Are advanced techniques used creatively and effectively to elevate the edit?

  4. Sound Design (20 Points)

    • Is the audio synced accurately with the visuals?
    • Are sound effects and music thoughtfully used to complement the editing?
    • Does the sound design contribute to the mood, energy, or storytelling of the video?

  5. Color Grading (20 Points)

    • Is the color grading consistent and visually appealing throughout the video?
    • Does the grading enhance the tone, mood, or atmosphere of the edit?
    • Are corrections and enhancements done skillfully, avoiding over-saturation or inconsistencies?

Total Scoring Breakdown

  • Total Possible Score: 100 Points
  • Each category will be scored out of 20 points by each judge, for a total maximum score of 100.

Judging Notes

  • Judges will prioritize creativity, skills, and technical execution.
  • All judging decisions are final, and no scores or feedback will be disclosed until after winners are announced.

Disqualification Criteria

Participants will be immediately disqualified and blacklisted from this and future contests if found to violate the following criteria, which are solely based on DJordanMedia LLC policies:

  1. Failure to Follow Rules:

    • Not following or subscribing to DJordanMedia’s social channels.
    • Omitting the required contest logo/animation or failing to use the provided clip packs.

  2. Inappropriate Conduct:

    • Posting harmful, inappropriate, or offensive content.
    • Engaging in harassment, defamation, or disruptive behavior toward other contestants or DJordanMedia.
    • Any attempt to bribe judges or influence the outcome.

  3. Account Issues:

    • Using spam, bot, or fake accounts.
    • Submitting entries from private accounts or accounts with no legitimate activity.

  4. Content Violations:

    • Submitting plagiarized content, copyrighted material without permission, or AI-generated work.
    • Uploading content that violates Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok community guidelines.

  5. Defamation and Misrepresentation:

    • Using DJordanMedia product images or branding in a way that distorts, misrepresents, or disparages the quality or features of our products or brand.
    • Publishing or promoting false insights, statements, or any content designed to undermine DJordanMedia’s reputation or mislead potential customers.

    Unauthorized Use or Distribution:

    • Reselling, distributing, or rebranding DJordanMedia products without prior authorization.
    • Hosting content that uses DJordanMedia assets in violation of intellectual property laws or contradicts the brand’s values and standards.

    • Collaboration Rules:

      • You may collaborate with other creators on a submission; however:
        • All collaborators must meet the eligibility criteria, including following and subscribing to DJordanMedia.
        • Only one submission form per collaborative entry is allowed, and the submitting participant must clearly list all collaborators.
        • Collaborators are jointly responsible for adhering to contest rules and DJordanMedia.
        • Any violation by one member, such as defamation or misconduct, may result in the disqualification of the entire team.

    Important Dates / Notes

    • Contest Starts: December 7th, 2024
    • Submission Deadline: January 6th, 2025, at 11:59 PM PST (no exceptions for render issues, etc.).
    • Winners Announced: January 10-14th, 2025 (TBD), on DJordanMedia’s YouTube channel.
    • Cash Prizes: Cash Prizes will be distributed via PayPal ONLY. no exceptions
    • Time Limits: Entries do not have a time limit, although we enourage a minimum of 15 seconds.

    Tips for Successful Entries

    • Follow the Rules: Double-check your entry to ensure it meets all guidelines.
    • Be Original: Showcase your unique style and editing techniques.
    • Plan Ahead: Submit your entry early to avoid last-minute technical issues.
    • Stay Positive: Celebrate your fellow creators and their efforts.

    Additional Details:

    1. Co-Editing Situations

    Scenario: The winning entry is a collaborative edit created by multiple participants.
    Resolution:

    • It is up to the collaborators to decide how to divide the prize(s).
    • Only one participant from the collaboration can officially submit the entry and will act as the primary point of contact for prize distribution.
    • DJordanMedia is not responsible for disputes between collaborators regarding prize division.

    Recommendation to Collaborators: Clearly agree on prize-sharing arrangements before submitting.

    2. Tie for First Place

    Scenario: Two or more entries achieve the same top score.
    Resolution Options:

    • Option 1: Final Round of Top 5:
      The top 5 entries (including the tied entries) proceed to a final round judged on a new, time-limited editing challenge. The winner of the final round will receive first place.
    • Option 2: Tie-Breaker Criteria:
      Judges score the tied entries again based on a secondary review of Originality/Creativity and Flow (weighted more heavily). The entry with the highest score in this focused review wins.
    • Option 3: Shared Prize:
      In the rare case of an irreconcilable tie, the tied participants share the prize (e.g., monetary prizes are split evenly, non-monetary prizes like software licenses are duplicated where possible).

    Judging Notes: The preferred approach will depend on the contest timeline and the judges’ ability to reconvene for additional reviews.

    3. Late Submissions Due to Technical Issues

    Scenario: A participant misses the deadline due to render crashes or upload errors.
    Resolution:

    • No exceptions will be made for late submissions. Participants are encouraged to submit their entries early to account for technical difficulties.
    • This policy is outlined clearly in the rules under the Submission Deadline section to avoid misunderstandings.

    4. Disqualified Entry

    Scenario: A disqualified participant argues against their disqualification (e.g., claiming their content is original).
    Resolution:

    • DJordanMedia will review the case internally, but judging and disqualification decisions are final.
    • Participants must provide evidence to support their claims (e.g., raw project files to verify originality).
    • If the claim is proven valid, the entry may be reinstated and judged accordingly.

    5. Account Violations

    Scenario: A participant submits from an account with suspected fake followers or limited activity.
    Resolution:

    • Such accounts will be flagged for review. Participants may be required to provide additional proof of account authenticity (e.g., screenshots of analytics or engagement history).
    • If the account is deemed inauthentic, the entry will be disqualified.

    6. Judging Transparency

    Scenario: A participant requests individual feedback or their specific scores after winners are announced.
    Resolution:

    • Judges’ decisions are final, and individual scores or detailed feedback will not be disclosed.
    • Participants are encouraged to focus on the overall learning experience and community engagement rather than contest results.

    7. Defamation, Misuse, Harassment, and Unauthorized Distribution

    Scenario:

    If an individual or organization is found to have:

    • Made false, misleading, or defamatory claims about DJordanMedia products, services, or brand in any format, including but not limited to social media, advertisements, or video content.
    • Used DJordanMedia assets or intellectual property without explicit authorization, including displaying or modifying them in promotional or comparative content.
    • Engaged in harassment, threats, or abusive behavior toward DJordanMedia or its representatives, directly or indirectly through partners or affiliates.
    • Attempted to obscure or alter ownership identifiers on DJordanMedia assets.

    Resolution:

    • Immediate Action: Permanent disqualification from all DJordanMedia contests, partnerships, and programs.
    • Forfeiture of Benefits: Revocation of any prizes, earnings, or promotional benefits obtained through DJordanMedia.
    • Legal Enforcement: DJordanMedia will pursue legal action to address defamation, copyright infringement, and any resulting damages.
    • Public Clarification: DJordanMedia reserves the right to publicly address and correct false claims or misrepresentations to protect its brand and reputation.

    Examples of Violations:

    • Creating or distributing content (e.g., videos, ads, or posts) that misrepresents DJordanMedia products by presenting false or misleading comparisons.
    • Displaying DJordanMedia products, assets, or branding in any form of advertising without explicit permission.
    • Harassment or abusive behavior toward DJordanMedia representatives, directly or through partners or affiliates.
    • Misusing or modifying DJordanMedia intellectual property in violation of copyright and intellectual property laws.

    Additional Notes:

    • Content Accountability: Any defamatory or unauthorized content must be removed immediately upon notice. Failure to comply will result in further legal and platform-level action.
    • Zero-Tolerance Policy: Harassment, false claims, or misuse of DJordanMedia assets will lead to permanent bans from all DJordanMedia platforms and services.
    • Intellectual Property Enforcement: Unauthorized use or modification of DJordanMedia assets will be pursued as a violation of copyright and intellectual property laws.

    Why This Rule?

    DJordanMedia strives to create an environment of respect, professionalism, and fairness. Defamatory actions, misleading advertising, and unauthorized use of our assets disrupt trust and harm the integrity of our brand. These rules ensure swift and decisive action to protect our team, our community, and the value we bring to creators worldwide.

    8. Prize Refusal or Unclaimed Prize

    Scenario: A winner refuses their prize or fails to claim it within a specified timeframe.
    Resolution:

    • If the prize is refused or unclaimed within 4 days of notification, it will be forfeited and offered to the next highest-scoring participant.

    9. Collaborator Misconduct

    Scenario: A member of a collaborative team engages in misconduct, such as harassment or rule violations.
    Resolution:

    • The entire team’s entry may be disqualified if misconduct is confirmed, depending on the severity of the issue.
    • DJordanMedia reserves the right to review and handle such cases on a case-by-case basis.

    10. Community Disputes or Complaints

    Scenario: A participant alleges unfair treatment or bias in the judging process.
    Resolution:

    • DJordanMedia will acknowledge the complaint but will reiterate that judging decisions are final.
    • Transparency in judging criteria and a diverse panel of judges are emphasized to minimize bias.

    DJordanMedia Editing Contest Shipping Policy

    If the Grand Prize Winner is awarded the Sony A7IV Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera Bundle, the following shipping policies will apply:

    Eligibility for Receiving the Prize

    • Participants Under 18 Years of Age:
      If the winner is under 18 years old, parental or legal guardian consent is required to claim the prize. A consent form will be provided and must be signed and returned before the prize is shipped.
      Failure to provide parental or legal guardian consent within 4 days of notification will result in forfeiture of the prize, and it will be awarded to the next highest-scoring participant.

    Shipping Costs

    • Domestic Shipping (within the United States):
      Shipping costs will be covered entirely by DJordanMedia LLC.
    • International Shipping (outside the United States):
      DJordanMedia LLC will cover the shipping cost up to $100 USD. Any additional costs (e.g., import duties, taxes, customs fees) will be the responsibility of the winner.

    Delivery Timeline

    • Winners will be notified via email within 4 days of the announcement. Once shipping details are confirmed, the prize will be dispatched within 14 business days.
    • Delivery times may vary depending on the destination and shipping service.

    Customs and Duties (International Winners)

    • DJordanMedia LLC is not responsible for customs clearance or any duties/taxes imposed by the destination country. The winner is advised to check their local customs policies for further information.

    Damaged or Lost Items

    • DJordanMedia LLC is not liable for items lost or damaged during shipping. A tracking number will be provided, and the winner is encouraged to monitor the delivery closely.
    • If the package is lost or damaged, DJordanMedia LLC will assist in filing a claim with the shipping provider but cannot guarantee replacements.

    Prize Unavailability Due to Shipping Restrictions

    • In the rare event that the camera bundle cannot be shipped to the winner’s country due to shipping restrictions or other unforeseen circumstances, DJordanMedia LLC reserves the right to withhold the prize.
    • No substitute prize or monetary compensation will be provided in this case. Winners are encouraged to confirm the feasibility of receiving the prize in their country prior to participation.

    11. Participant Verification and Eligibility

    Entry Requirements:

    To ensure a fair and transparent contest, participants must provide accurate and verifiable information, including:

    • Order Confirmation: Proof of a valid purchase or entry as specified by the contest guidelines.
    • Full Name: A legitimate, full legal name that matches the order details.
    • Address: A confirmed physical address for prize delivery and verification.
    • Email Address: A valid and accessible email address for communication regarding the contest.

    Verification Process:

    • Eligibility Check: Entries will be cross-referenced with order details to confirm the participant’s legitimacy and eligibility.
    • Notification: Winners will be contacted via the email address provided during entry. Failure to respond within the specified timeframe may result in disqualification.
    • Prize Delivery: Prizes will only be shipped to the confirmed address provided during the entry process. Address changes will not be allowed after the contest concludes.

    Additional Notes:

    • False Information: Providing false or misleading information will result in disqualification and forfeiture of any prizes.
    • Privacy: All participant information will be handled in accordance with DJordanMedia’s privacy policy and will not be shared with third parties.
    • International Participants: Winners outside the contest's primary country may be responsible for any customs fees, taxes, or additional costs associated with prize delivery.

    Why This Rule?

    This rule ensures fairness, prevents fraud, and allows DJordanMedia to confirm the legitimacy of participants and winners. By verifying entries, we aim to maintain transparency and provide a smooth, trustworthy contest experience for all.
